About the role

You will have experience in medical education and curriculum development to support delivery of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the Fremantle campus. Reporting to the National Head of Curriculum, this role focuses on curriculum design and innovation, contributing to the implementation of the National MD program. Responsibilities include collaborating with the national curriculum team to ensure integrated, current, and aligned learning objectives across the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders, including but not limited to the National Head of Curriculum and curriculum team, Heads of Domains and Disciplines in regard to reviewing and revising the learning objectives and associated learning resources, ensuring vertical and horizontal integration of the learning objectives across the medical program.
  • Support the National Head of Curriculum in developing and maintaining the curriculum database, managing the documentation of course outlines, handbooks, curriculum policy and procedure manuals.
  • Develop and support the use of different modalities in the delivery of the curriculum, including the e-learning environment to support the National MD program.
  • Support the teaching of the National MD program including ensuring the consistency and capacity of curriculum delivery and support for teaching across all the national MD program. 
  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders, including but not limited to the National Head of Curriculum and curriculum team, Heads of Domains and Disciplines to explore and advance new modalities to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • A regular teaching commitment to students in small group sessions in the Foundation or Clinical Years commensurate with qualification and expertise, as part of this role to be agreed with manager.
  • Support the National Head of Curriculum in ongoing review and continuing improvement of the MD program curriculum.
  • Providing support to and participation in relevant School committees.

Qualifications, skills & experience

A Level C Academic Employee is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An Academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. A Level C Academic Employee will normally have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. A position at this level will normally require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard will be had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement. In addition a position at this level will normally require a record of demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area.

  • Possession of a Medical qualification registrable with AHPRA and a Fellowship of a relevant professional body, OR a qualified health professional with a PhD preferably in an area relevant to medical education.
  • Experience in curriculum innovation and design in medical education settings, preferably in a tertiary education context.
  • Experience in managing projects to a deadline.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to effectively liaise with academic colleagues and work both as a member of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management qualities including building and maintaining a strong, positive team culture within a complex and geographically disbursed operating environment.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, negotiation and networking skills.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to manage course related curriculum issues and to develop, implement and review a wide range of course materials.
  • Excellent understanding of the e-learning environment.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Web-based applications.
